Leadership team

Tim Bunker—Managing Director

With a family of horticulture pioneers I have grown up with an appreciation for greenlife. After completing a business degree majoring in accounting and information systems at the University of Southern Queensland, and a few years with a large corporate, I joined the Nursery Traders team in 1989.

Over the past two decades I have worked relentlessly to shape and improve our business. Alternative thinking coupled with finding elegant and simple solutions to complicated problems has shaped the Nursery Traders’ success so far, particularly in the sustainability arena.

My mantra is to always look towards the future, find where we need to be in five years’ time and get us there immediately.   I cherish the versatility of each day at Nursery Traders, variations the time of day or the seasons bring, the arrival of new products to the market and the fusion of clients with diverse requirements—all resulting in an ever changing dynamic.

Outside of my work life, my passions are varied and include interest in ancient history, architecture, cycling, elegant design, nature, photography and travel. The thought of working with my talented partner to bring new plant varieties to the international marketplace, and my two beautiful, thoughtful and caring daughters, bring a smile to my face every time.

Clair Forshaw— Administration Officer

Since joining Nursery Traders in 2008, I’ve upheld Nursery Traders’ 30-year tradition of paying its supply partners fortnightly, on time every time. With a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies and broad practical experience in administration, accounting, and business systems, I make it my mission to ensure that the crucial function of administration and accounting runs smoothly.

My other passion for life comes from my family and especially our young daughter. We enjoy camping and beach holidays together but at home I love pottering around the garden or immersing myself in the pages of a good novel.

Margaret Mackay

In 20013 Margaret Mackay completed 30 years of distinguished service with Nursery Traders. Margaret was one of the Nursery Traders founding team members in 1983 and over the years she could be relied upon to use her administrative and bookkeeping skills to ensure that every cent was accounted for and our standholders and suppliers were paid on time every time!! Although she retired from full time work in 2008 Margaret continues to ‘crunch the numbers’ by assisting with our general ledger processing. When not pouring over figures Margaret still enjoys her passion for car rallying and is a stalwart in the Brisbane Sporting Car Club.

Sales team

Charmaine Pryke—Corporate Sales Manager

I bring to my role at Nursery Traders over 26 years’ experience in the horticulture industry ranging from plant hire, to running a small retail nursery/florist business, production management and customer service. My horticultural training at Gatton College coupled with my industry experience, provided me with insightful plant knowledge and the ability to source client requirements from a wide network of our supply partners. I love the vibrancy of our market and the ever-changing nature of our business.

When away from Nursery Traders, I enjoy outings on our boat—the relaxation anchor for me and my family! Obviously I’m a garden lover, but prefer the cottage garden and not a formal one. I adore camellias, azaleas and magnolias and my all time favourite is a bolusanthus which I have planted in the garden of every home I’ve ever had.
